Building Thriving & Sustainable Anti-Violence Workplaces

What: RAFT is hosting an Open Workshop, Building Thriving & Sustainable Anti-Violence Workplaces, led by the SOAR Collective

Date: Thursday, September 28th from 2 - 4 pm ET / 1 - 3 CT / 11 am - 1 pm PST

Where: Virtual on Zoom

Advocates are doing everything they can to keep working in the anti-violence movement, but it’s hard. If we want to support survivors, prevent violence, and create safe & equitable communities, we must model the same values and norms within our workplaces. This workshop will equip organizations with tools and practices they can use to foster a healthy and safe workplace culture. Participants will have an opportunity to brainstorm and connect with peers, and learn about how infusing elements of psychological safety can promote a sustainable and thriving workplace.

During this 2-hour workshop our presenters will examine patterns of harm found within the anti-violence movement, describe the four quadrants of psychological safety, and summarize the conditions needed to create a sustainable workplace. There will be opportunities to engage with the presenters and other participants, as well as options for self-reflection and journaling activities.

Who can attend? All advocates are welcome to attend! However, certain content may be more applicable for emerging leaders!

The SOAR Collective was founded by three young-ish women (Black, white, and mult-racial Latina) who have combined 15+ years of experience working in the anti-violence movement. We have worked with advocates, prevention educators, leadership, and other staff at local sexual and domestic violence agencies across the United States. They have experience providing training and technical assistance on a variety of topics, including accountability, creating anti-oppressive organizations, and healing from organizational trauma. Their education and life experience give them expertise in nonprofit leadership, program evaluation, policy assessment, grant management, and more.
